Now that October has arrived, the first thing on everyone's mind is Halloween! It's a great holiday where you can get mass amounts of candy and the ability to dress as rediculous as possible and not get judged. The most important thing to think about is your costume.
As for a costume, many people like to have a group of people to dress as one thing. For example I know people that have dressed up as Baywatch girls, Homewreckers, and also members of Legends of the Hidden Temple. These are all very clever ways of dressing up. A more common way for girls especially to dress up, is as something that is very, how should i say it, yeahh slutty. This is because guys know that girls are going to dress in this manner. Girls know that they can dress this way because everyone else is.
If it was a random weekend night out at Dark Horse and a girl walks in wearing something very revealing, people might just stare and give her weird looks. But on Halloween it's totally normal for this kind of stuff.
Also when i think of Halloween i think of trick-or-treating. I think once you get passed a certain age like 16 or 17, its not really acceptable. I am 20 and i would loveee to go trick-or-treating still. It was always so much fun just running around to different houses in your neighborhood begging for the best and most candy. Although usually the weather was terrible. Let's face it, central New York definitely doesn't haev the best weather during October. Anyways, after you got home, you and your friends or your siblings would dump your pillow cases out and count to see who had the most candy. Of course trading candy would happen, and you might have to give some to your parents(usually the candy you didn't like).
This is also the season to be watching scary movies, or my favorite the 13 days of Halloween on ABC family. They out together by far the best kids halloween movies ever. Mainly Hocus Pocus, or the typical Olsen Twins movies. All are classics. So as far as this wonderful holiday goes, I can't wait! It shall be interesting this year...

I can't wait till Halloween comes! That is my favorite holiday besides Christmas. Dressing up is my favorite part. You can be anything you want to be. I still go trick-or-treating even though I am 19. Last year I was a commuter back home so it was easier for me to go trick-or-treating since I knew my neighborhood. But since I'm a resident here, I think I'm going to skip it this year. I love the decorations, scary movies just like you.
ReplyDeleteIt is so funny that you mentioned how we used to give our parents the candy we didnt like. I remember doing that all the time. Halloween I thought was gone after like 8th or 9th grade, but luckily Cortland rejuvenated it. Best time to have fun and do some wild and crazy with an outfit. The best part about it is, Halloween on a Friday turns into a 3 day celebration.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember the last time I actually participated in Halloween. I think I stopped when I was in about tenth grade or so. Sadly for the rest of my high school career I got stuck doing homework that night. But before then my mom, aunt, sister, my four cousins, and I would start at like seven at night and start at one end of the town and work are way all the way down to the other end. It took us about three hours to finish and then we would all meet at my grand parents house and just like you did we would dump out our half full pillow cases on the floor and start sifting through it. First our parents would make us look or any open pieces of candy to be on the safe side. Then the trading and sharing start. After all was said and done we would shortly pass out because we were so tired from walking. It was funny though, for the last few years of my trick or treating I would usually dress up in an army outfit. Sometimes I would go as far as to paint my face. Looking back I don't want to know how funny i looked. It was weird though I never got into the whole walking around with your friends like a big gang terrorizing the neighborhood with shaving cream, toilet paper, and eggs. Sadly, after high school I still never got back into the whole Halloween ritual and I would stay in for the night doing what ever.
