Legalize it

I know that I am just one of the many people who believe that marijuana should be legalized. Not only would it boost our economy but it would just be really awesome. It is already legal for people to smoke it if they have glaucoma, and some types of cancer, so why not make it legal for everyone else? I think one main reason why people don't want it to be legal is because they don't want their kids/family members doing it even more than they most likely already do.
Another reason why this movement should happen is that, it would definitely cut down on the costs of imprisoning people caught with weed, and the tax put on it would help. I recently got a text telling me to call the number that was in the text. So I called it and a recording came on saying that this phone call is to help support Obama's idea of legalizing marijuana. It went on to say how it would boost our economy by having a tax put on it as if it were alcohol. To make my vote count i had to press a couple certain buttons. The recording came back on saying thank you for supporting this movement or whatever. I then fowarded the text to several different people. This definitely helps to spread the word on this topic and see what other people have to say.
Although a lot of these kinds of text messages are just those stupid chain messages, i'm pretty sure that this was legit. i guess there really is no way to tell unless in one of Obama's next speeches he talks about this particular form of advertisement.
So I think marijuana should be legalized not just to make those who smoke it happy, but also to make the economy better in our times of trouble.

  1. Funny how I wrote about this in one of my last blogs. I agree completely that marijuana should be legalized. With all the facts that they have to prove how much it would help our economy, help the environment and help people in pain that are sick... why is it still illegal it just does NOT make sense.

  2. I agree with you. I just think that it can't harm you more than alcohol can. I mean maybe legalize and put an age limit. I feel like most people use it because they know it's illegal so if it isn't anymore than I actually believe not as many people would do it. And even if I'm wrong, you're at least right about the money being saved because people won't be put in jail for this anymore.

  3. I completly agree that it should be legalized. I know a lot of people who are out of college and have "real jobs" who smoke. I do not think that having it be illegal is doing any good. I also think that wheather it is illegal or legal it is not going to stop people from smoking.

  4. I totally agree with you. It should be legalized. The tax alone on it would help our economy greatly and regaurdless of whether its illegal or not people are going to buy and smoke it, so why not make it legal? It costs thousands of dollars to keep someone in jail. That money could be spent to help our economical crisis. Also, it is beyond me how cigarettes are legal but pot isn't. I just do not understand. Cigarettes are addicting and poisonous, marijuana is a natural growing herb. I don't see why it cannot be legalized.

  5. i agree with you 100%. i have done several reports on this subject, and the overall fact is that it would help our economy. people would be giving money to the economy rather than drug dealers. we could tax it and make even more money. AND IT WOULD MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY!

  6. I also wrote a post about how pot should be legal. Everything points to it should be legalized. I feel that if it really isnt bad for you, then the only thing that stops it from being legal is that people think it is too good to be true. It isnt bad for you, helps with many severe illnesses, and makes you feel great. But still, millions are giong to jail every year for possesion.
